Health Care Programmes

From the very outset, CWS paid a lot of attention towards the health care of people in its operational area through Mobile clinics and medical camps. With the commissioning of the CWS Hospital, we discontinued the Mobile Clinic and encouraged the beneficiaries to visit the hospital. We continue with Medical Camps in Rural and Urban Areas. Presently Hospital is providing Health Care Services at an affordable rate to their target population. Believing in the dictum, ‘Prevention is better than Cure’ we have appointed 17 Community Health Care Workers who go to urban poor and create awareness about health and hygiene. Following are our Health Care Services :

CWS Hospital :

CWS Hospital with 120 beds at present is the most ambitious and visible project of the CWS healthcare programme. CWS Hospital was established at Jagda, Rourkela in 2002. The hospital which was commissioned with 50 beds then in 2002 has grown to be a 120 bedded Hospital with excellent diagnostic facilities. This hospital is staffed by experienced and committed medical professionals devoted to high-quality patient care. Further, it is our joy to state that the patient care provided here is at an affordable cost. The majority of our patients are tribals or those belonging to the poorer sections of society.

Presently the Hospital has become a referral centre to many seriously and critically ill patients of Rourkela and its Peripheries, interior villages of Sundergarh district and neighbouring states of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.  Last year the hospital started providing advanced healthcare services through the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Dependency Unit (HDU) with 12 beds.

Medical Camps :

As part of its health Care Services, CWS Hospital regularly organizes Medical Camps. During the COVID-19 period, we restricted the outreach programmes. Presently we have resumed our programme of organizing Medical Camps as normaly has returned after the pandemic. We also conduct specific medical.

Home-Based Palliative Care :

"Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-threatening illness, through prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual." In CWS we have a team of seven members going from family to family visiting patients who are terminally or seriously ill.

Our Goals for Palliative care are :

  • Provides relief from pain and other distressing symptoms.

  • Affirms life and regards dying as a normal process.

  • Intends neither to hasten nor postpone death.

  • Offers a support system to help patients live as actively and comfortably as possible until death.

  • Offers a support system to help the family cope during the patient’s illness and in their bereavement.

  • Will enhance the quality of life, and may also positively influence the course of illness.

Community Health :

We have Seventeen Community Health Workers who are spearheading our Health awareness activities. They utilise the platform of Self-Help Groups to teach, educate and bring awareness among the urban poor about various healthcare issues. Our Community Health Workers cover a total of 115 slums.
